"I found Reach Out on the website. Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry is exactly what I have been looking for. I want to put it in place in my church, train the youth leaders in our denomination and take it to Quebec and then the French-speaking world. "

That's the email Reach Out received from Benoit Therrien in Quebec City, Canada. We read it and asked ourselves, Who is this guy? We invited him to a JFYM Forum. When he attended the Forum we found out that he was not only serious about the email, but fully capable of pursuing the vision.

The Need:

In the French-speaking province of Quebec (Canada), we face a great challenge. The province has a religious background that has turned kids off to the gospel. That makes it difficult to reach young people with the Gospel. Less than 1% of the 8 million people in Quebec are born again Christians. The province of Quebec has a very high suicide rate. Most of the suicides are teenagers and young adults. Drugs, sex and other teen related issues have created problems as well. Though the youth pastors could be discouraged by the overwhelming challenge of presenting Jesus to the teenagers of our province, we are in fact looking forward to see what our God will do. We sense that the Lord is preparing teenagers for the Gospel.

The Ministry:

Benoit has implemented Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry in his church, became and Eagle Leader, conducted a JFYM Forum for the ten key youth leaders in his denomination, as well as translated Reach Out's Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry resources into French. Benoit played a key role in our team that we took to West Africa to equip the key youth leaders from twelve French-speaking countries.

The Plan:

In 2007 Benoit's team will:

• Conduct a retreat for 40 youth leaders.
• Lead at JFYM Forum for key youth leaders.
• Mentor those youth leaders to implement Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry in their churches.
• Prepare those youth leaders to become Eagle Leaders.
• Assist Reach Out in translating the remainder of our resources in French.
• Help lead the team to West Africa to continue training the French-speaking youth leaders in those twelve countries.
