Eagle Leaders

Eagle Leader Defined: One who mentors others through Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry.

Only 10% of all people trained in new skills actually implement what they learn. Yet 80% implement when they have a mentor to guide them. Eagle Leaders implement Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry and then mentor others to do the same. Through this process, Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry is multiplied. This represents a major paradigm shift in youth ministry.

Eagle Leaders Developed: Eagle Leaders introduce, implement, and multiply—a three-stage process described below.

Introduce. At the Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry Forum (or a similar venue) a younger generation ministry team—pastor, youth pastor, children’s minister, all youth ministry and children’s volunteers, parent leaders and even student leaders—refocuses on Jesus' simple approach to life and ministry. Together they discover how to put that into action in their lives and ministries.

Forum participants find out how to…
  • Go Deeper with Christ
  • Pray with Passion
  • Build Leaders
  • Disciple Students
  • Penetrate the Culture
  • Create Outreach Opportunities
Implement. After the Forum, the team implements their unique “Plan of Action” in their church and community and then sees the younger generation become fruit-bearing disciples of Jesus. The Reach Out Youth Solutions team equips them as they go through the process.

Multiply. Once the team implements Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry, individuals can become Eagle Leaders—who in turn mentor others to do the same. Participation as an Eagle Leader provides an opportunity not only to affect one’s own church but also, over time, countless other churches.

Eagle Leaders Engaged: Once Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry has been effectively implemented and a youth leader expresses a desire to mentor and multiply Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry with other youth leaders, then he/she applies to become certified as an Eagle Leader. While going through the certification process, a potential Eagle Leader explores four opportunities for expressing his/her own unique mentoring and multiplying approach.

Equip Others. Both locally and through various relationships with other leaders, an Eagle Leader can mentor others through Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry.

Lead at JFYM Forums. An Eagle Leader can both host and assist with leadership at a Forum. Over time, an Eagle Leader may conduct his or her own Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry Forums.

Adopt a Cross-Cultural Mission. An Eagle Leader invests in leaders in another culture, whether across the street or around the world. This can express itself through an existing church partnership or through one of several international trips with Reach Out to train indigenous leaders. Mentoring leads to multiplying rather quickly in these cross-cultural environments.

Recruit Supporters. Eagle Leaders have relationships with other people who have a heart for God and for kids. When an Eagle Leader connects these people to the global vision of equipping leaders and reaching kids through Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry, then mentoring and multiplying opportunities expand. Whether through praying, giving, or going, Reach Out enjoys connecting people with resources to people with little or no resources. We like to identify individuals with a heart and a vision for the younger generation.

Through Eagle Leaders mentoring and multiplying Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry, churches around the globe are accelerating the process of reaching and discipling the younger generation.

"Leaders need leaders to lead them! Since we connected with Barry and Reach Out in 1990, we have been richly blessed by the strategy Reach Out teaches. We believe in Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry so much that we translated it into Portuguese and brought it to Brazil!
