Egypt

The 3M Company--Michael, Maged and Mario--all three hail from the city of Minia. They evangelize and disciple young people, not only in Minia, but throughout the Middle East. They have preached the Gospel on the streets of Khartoum, Sudan and Baghdad, Iraq. They have preached on missions in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. Their courage and boldness for the sake of the gospel remind me of the apostles in Acts. When they first attended the Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry Forum it gave clarity to their zeal. During the Forum they reorganized their Leadership Team, gained insight into how to handle their authorities, and developed a plan for follow up when they preach. They learned to use Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry and the six resources we provided them in Arabic to develop their Leadership Team and Discipleship Groups in their city and in the cities where they preach. Our investment in the 3M Company is paying big dividends! After a year they have fully implemented Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry in their churches. They have a vision for multiplying Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry throughout the Middle East. Each one set a goal of mentoring three youth leaders in Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry. In the next year, nine Egyptians will be ready to equip other Egyptians!

The Need:

Teenagers in Egypt face the same life issues as all adolescents around the world. Issues of self-worth and purpose are intensified because of their disenfranchisement. They go to school knowing that when they finish so few jobs exist that most of them will not work. Others will work, but at low wages. That leads to discouragement, depression, lawlessness, abuse, religious fanaticism and, for some, terrorism. Among the Christian population, young people are hungry to know Jesus, follow Him and make their lives count. Among the Muslim population, many young people are coming to know Jesus through the quiet but strong witness of Christian teenagers. In Egypt the environment is ripe to reach the younger generation, but it will come at a great cost to Egyptian believers!

The Ministry:

We have conducted two Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry Forums in 2005 and 2006 with sixty-five youth leaders attending each one. In 2006 we certified four Eagle Leaders Mario Zakareya , Michael Ibrahim and Maged Moris, along with Nassef Guiguis, a medical doctor who oversees the USA equivalent of Medicare in Egypt.

The Plan:

In 2007 we will:

• Equip 150 top youth leaders by conducting three Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry Forums in Minia and Cairo, Egypt and in Amman, Jordan
• Invite youth leaders from other countries in the Middle East to attend the JFYM Forum in Jordan
• Identify and certify at least ten Eagle Leaders who will join our five current Eagle Leaders, along with our USA team, to conduct the JFYM Forums
